Continuing its steady stream of slots in 2020, Swedish games developer Play’n Go has added to its metal series with its latest release, Testament, inspired by the thrash metal band of the same name.

Play’n GO unleashes thrash metal band inspired slot Testament

Much like the hard-hitting California band, the high-volatility 5-reel, 3-row video slot is not for the faint of heart, complete with the band’s Dark Roots of Earth album, which is featured on the game’s soundtrack.

Creating a slot based on a band or artist carries an extra weight to it.”

Players will find that the Växjö-headquartered developer has designed its new title so that gameplay syncs with the music, effectively boosting the level of excitement in this its fifth branded release in a rock band themed series of slots.

Skulls rock:

All of the game’s symbols are representative of the thrash metal scene, beginning with the J-A royals, which use the band logo’s font. Included in the five premiums are a skull, a vampire, a werewolf, a skeleton and swords crossed on a shield.

Pay special attention to the skull as it is the most valuable symbol and can transform itself into a Wild on any random base game spins, and always turns wild on each bonus game spin. A line of five is worth 12.5x the stake.

The game’s Wild is a frightening thrash metal demon and will replace any in-game symbol, with the exception of the Scatter, which is the Dark Roots of Earth album cover, and will help to create winning combinations. A minimum of three symbols have to be matched along a payway in order to get a win.

Song features:

In addition to a massive 20,000x win potential, the slot has three separate game features based on the band’s songs Cold Embrace, Dark Roots of Earth and Throne of Thorns. Landing two Scatters on the reel in a single spin can trigger the song features. When that happens, three extra spins are awarded to the player, and one of the three song features takes place.

Landing three scatters triggers nine Rise Up (extra) Spins, where the round begins with the nine spaces on the expanded reels encased in stone blockers, Landing a scatter symbol removes the blocker symbol above it and frees that position to increase win ways. Removing all the blockers triggers the enhanced Testament spins, which adds three more spins to the total and activates the three Song Features for the rest of the extra spins round.

Along with Play’n GO’s other music-themed titles such as Sabaton, House of Doom and Demon, the Sweden-based developer is gaining a reputation as a music-slot specialist, adding another dimension to its award-winning portfolio.

Real feel:

Working alongside the artists, as with all of its other music slots, enables a more authentic feel, which pleases fans of slots who are also fans of the music.

In an official press release, Chief Product Officer for Play’n GO, Martin Zettergren, emphasized the importance of authenticity when developing their rock band-themed slots…

“Creating a slot based on a band or artist carries an extra weight to it. You have to create a fun, unique slot for players to enjoy, but also represent the band and their music to fans accurately.

This game is another “Testament” to our talent for creating entertaining slots, and our diligence in doing so.”

February wrap:

Sure to be a hit, the new game follows, Fortunes of Ali Baba, the slots specialist’s last game of February and its seventh new release of 2020. The high variance video slot is inspired by the legendary story Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, taken from the One Thousand and One Nights collection of folk tales, and offers potential wins of up to 9,948 times the stake.
